Ten miles east of the Village, Lopez Lake is a medium-sized lake with great boating, fishing and camping. Fish include bluegill, crappie, catfish, large/small mouth bass and trout.

Surfing & Ocean Kayaking

Pacific Ocean beaches are 10 to 15 minutes from the Village. Rent a sea kayak for the afternoon, try your hand at surfing or boogie boarding, fish off a pier, explore tidepools, or just enjoy a swim on the sandy beach.

Birding

Good birding opportunities extend throughout the county. Field trips are regularly offered by two Audubon chapters that sponsor two Christmas counts. The Morro Bay count is regularly in the top ten. 445 bird species have been recorded in the county including an Arctic Warbler.

Off-road & All-terrain Vehicles

The Oceano Dunes, only 10 minutes from the Village, is one of the most popular and unique parks in California, and attracts visitors from all over the United States.
